It is people that have the most significant impact on safety in the workplace. As workers, they are
exposed to the hazards of the material, equipment and the workplace environment.
Illness, mental distractions, family and financial problems, age, physical condition, time on the job and lack
of training are all factors that can affect how the individual performs in the workplace. Regardless of
whether the person is the CEO, a welder or a secretary, all people in the workplace have the potential
to be injured.
Outside the workplace, there are numerous other people that interact directly with our working
environment. Ministerial enforcement - Labour and Environment, Police and Fire officials are all people
that can usually be found at a workplace after the occurrence of an adverse circumstance. Coroners,
juries and politicians have influence that is more indirect and after the fact however, the eventual result, is
changes to legislation or regulations that affect the people in the workplace.
There are many components that come together to create the working environment.
This encompasses many items including but not limited to building code requirements for the structure,
ergonomic considerations to facilitate the needs of people at their work and overall air quality and
ventilation to ensure that airborne contaminants are within regulated levels.
We do this by conducting tests and analysis of sampling data against regulated exposure levels as
well as overall standards compliance assessments.
